Methodology
Our process is public and applied identically to everyone. Here is exactly how we work.
01Question selection
Questions are chosen to be relevant to the office, neutrally worded, and answerable by any candidate. The same set is used for every candidate in a race. We do not tailor questions to advantage or disadvantage anyone.
02Candidate contact
We contact every candidate for an office through their official campaign channel. Every candidate receives the questionnaire at the same time, with the same instructions and the same deadline.
03Reminders
We send at least one reminder before publication. Non-responses are noted transparently. We never penalize or editorialize a candidate's choice not to respond.
04Verification
Before publishing, we confirm each submission came from the candidate or an authorized campaign representative. The verification method is recorded and displayed on each profile.
05Publication
Responses are published exactly as submitted, in an identical format for every candidate. We do not edit, summarize, score, rate, or add commentary.
